Abstract: In this letter, the noise effects induced by semiconductor optical amplification within a cavity with external optical feedback are studied, in terms of chaos complexity of the generated emitter's signal, as well as the ability of an appropriate receiver to synchronize with the emitted signal in a chaos-based optical communication system.
