Abstract: Fingerprint acquisition, processing and verification consists one of the most important aspects in biometric recognition technologies. They are far and away one of the most widely-used from all the various personal verification measurements because they are non invasive and the acquisition uses low cost sensors. An important issue in fingerprint verification system design is the portability and the ability to apply real -time algorithms. In this paper a real time verification system was developed using the DSK6713 of Texas Instrument along with the Fingerprint Sensor Daughter Card AFS8600 of Spectrum Digital. The system has been designed in order to provide a friendly user interface from a PC, for high security transactions along with minimal user intervation. Image processing algorithms was performed before the verification step for best results. A verification accuracy of 96% was achieved which is comparable to other procedures followed by the literature.
