Abstract: A ¯nite-di®erence method is used to transform the initial/boundary-value problem associated with the Kadomtsev-Petviashvilli equation into an algebraic system. For this purpose the space and the time partial derivatives are replaced with familiar ¯nite-di®erence replacements. To avoid solving the resulting nonlinear system, an appropriate linearized scheme is proposed.
