Table of contents: The assistants of medical laboratories, known as “laboratory technicians”, consist an important part of laboratory personnel in our country. They graduate from public or private “Institutes of Professional Training“ (I.E.K.) after two years of study. If they wish to work in public medical laboratories they have to get a “certification” after written and oral exams hold by the Organization of Professional Education and Training (OEEK). In this work we made the profile of such students using written questionnaires. All students of public I.E.K. where the aforementioned field is been studied, were asked. The majority of students were of Greek nationality (78%) and female (87%). The students live in Greece almost 15 years and their average age was 21 years old. The majority of students (73%) graduated from “general high school” and half of them from the “theoretical direction”. Most of students (73%) have chosen that specialty because of personal interest and information about easy work conditions and easy finding job (21%). 83% of students used public transportation means and half of students worked. 81% of working are students occupied with different jobs for living. Students were not satisfied with the quality of education. In the scale from 1 to 5 most of them gave the answer “3”. Students wanted better books (93%) and laboratory equipment (70%). Most students (93%) considered I.E.K. easier than high school (70%), 34% of students faced difficulties in following lectures and 10% in laboratory practice. Almost all students (98%) will take examinations for professional “certification” and will search for job in the same profession.
